I decided I needed a change early last week, and I wanted to make it happen sooner rather than later. In past posts I have made reference to my ever changing hair color. Having been almost every color, including magenta and I am sure if I were younger I would have jumped right into that pastel, cotton candy trend that has been everywhere. For that past three years I have been growing my hair and have had it different degrees of ombre'.  I loved the texture and depth my hair had with the variant of color throughout my long locks, but often times when I was not with an edgy crowd people thought my hair color was a mistake.  So I needed to start over, from scratch, to my original color that I haven't seen in approximately 23 years, and cut it... almost all of it... off.

It is amazing how light I feel after cutting off 6 inches.  Feeling like I just cut off dreads, letting go of years of my life.  Those six inches have been with me for quite some time, and I was ready for a fresh new start.

While I am sure in the near future I will switch it up again, I am enjoying being basic me for right now.  
 Plus, with darker hair the make-up possibilities are ENDLESS!  ;)  

So many trends popped up at NYFW. Not only were these trends covering the runways, but they were also very present on the street.  Here are a few we can all adopt into our daily life.

The Slouchy Trench
Working away from the tailored trenches of seasons past, this look is more bathrobe like. Very deconstructed, and relaxed. Certainly adding a chic touch to a tailored outfit. 



Florals
Fashion has been doing away with rules for quite some time, and to be honest I think I was wearing white after Labor Day long before it was acceptable.  I am so pleased that we now can don our floral attire all year round.  Bright floral patterns, whether it is a scarf, skirt or dress, can really add pops of color to a usually drab winter wardrobe.   

Regardless of how old I am or how long I have been out of school, I still get the back to school blues this time of year. The past few years I have tried to really embrace the fall and what it has to offer, and to stop viewing it as the beginning of the end.  The weather is usually sunny and crisp, and every once in a while we can still have a beach day in October.  As much as I love the Summer months and being lightly dressed,  one thing I look forward to about Autumn is the change in wardrobe.  The layering, chords, leggings, boots, sweaters, and my staple leather jacket.  While we haven't quite come to leather jacket wearing weather, I have reluctantly had to say goodbye to my sandals and open toed shoes... Until next year my

Every couple of years I try out a red lip.  I love the look on other people, but not sure how I like it on myself. I also like the idea of a red lip with a casual outfit.

I have had this cut out sweater for over a year and just today took the tags off.  I feel the same way about a cut out sweater as I do about peep toe booties, while adorable, are they functional?  A theme in my life as of recently is trying new things. I am tired of the old, stale and monotonous in all aspects of my life. Why not extend that into my style?  Anyway, it was a chilly 60 degrees this morning and a sweater was definitely in order.

For me this time of year is the hardest to find seasonally appropriate attire.  It seems here in the Northeast as soon as school is back in session Autumn is in full effect.  I find layering is the best way to handle cooler mornings and warmer afternoons.  I wear tanks pretty much all year, and I find chambray and plaid shirts as well as boyfriend sweaters and cardis are perfect for this weather. As you can see I am still not ready to give up my open toed shoes and sandals. ;)
