Good Friday morning, and Happy almost Halloween!!  I love Halloween, it has always been one of my favorite holidays.  What's not to love?  Getting dressed up and wearing makeup are two of  my favorite things.

I had a very unconventional yet awesome college experience, attending The Boston Conservatory where I intensively studied ballet.  A very small school of about 500 students, we shared a lot of the facilities with Berklee College of Music.  There were no keg parties or sleeping in until noon with our excruciating schedules. Surrounded by creative artists, musicians, actors and dancers, after hours of classes and rehearsals we would find ourselves in small clubs and venues to see our talented friends perform.  My closest guy friends started a punk/ska band their freshman year and are still going strong touring the world.  In the past 17 years we have all moved in different directions, some to other cities, and across the country, but we always seem to keep in touch and see each other when our lives take us to each others part of the world.  Which brings me back to this Halloween weekend (full circle).  So the band Bid D and the Kids Table has played a Halloween show every year since the beginning. This show serves very much as a homecoming for us.  Original members have come and gone, some touring with other bands, some building lives with their families, but this show every year has proven to be our biggest reunion.  I'll admit I have missed a few years here and there, because life gets in the way, but when I heard my friend Chris was going to be in from Hawaii, I had little to no excuse.  So this evening, I will be stepping out with some of my closest most talented, awesome friends, oh, and did I mention it is a Halloween show? ;)  Always one for choosing something pretty, never slutty (but good for the women who feel comfortable doing so), and with very little time to get a costume together I reached into my closet for something easy.  Rosie the Riveter it is!

All you need is either a chambray jumpsuit, and or chambray shirt and jeans, a red handkerchief, boots and a red lip.

Good Wednesday Morning!  What is it about stripes?  Often times, like a lot of people I get stuck on a certain look.  Whether is be plaid, stripes, black denim, long dusters (you get the point), I find my closet is full of very similar items. Recently it has been stripes, black and white to be specific.  If there is a stripe in a 30 mile radius of me, it needs to be mine, even if it looks like 20 other tops or dresses I may have...and most likely it does.  As long as I can remember I have been told that horizontal stripes make you look wider, so what exactly is the allure?  

I have been challenging myself recently to break out of my habitual wardrobe routines, but for today with this mild weather a striped dress it is!

Good Friday morning!!  A few things... first and foremost I am so excited to hop into my car in a few hours and road trip down to see one of my besties and old roommate in New Jersey.  Nine years ago she moved from Boston back to Jersey to be closer to her family. While I totally get it, I miss her terribly every day!  We try our hardest to see each other every few months, but unfortunately this was a very hard year for her family, life sometimes gets in the way and it has been over a year since I've seen her beautiful face.  Her immediate and extended family are like my second family, I absolutely love these people.  Lindsay and her cousins have a boutique in Wyckoff called Maluka.  As if seeing her isn't the most fun anyway, I also get to hang out at the store and try everything on!  Endless brands, amazing clothes AND accessories, check it out! I can barely contain my excitement!  YAY!!   

Next order of business is... this week my camera decided to sh*t the bed.  Yep, my wonderful camera that is less than a year old just stopped working.  It began being temperamental a few weeks ago. Yelling at me about storage every time I took photos.  Perhaps if I purchased more SD cards?  Nope.  I began taking photos and emailing them immediately to myself in order to get them off the camera, until of course I got the 'unfortunately your email is not working' message, and shortly after that, it just stopped working all together. No turning on or off.  Nothing.  I tried to put my SD cards in my mothers camera, only to find out everything had been wiped out.  All my pictures gone.  My vacation, pictures of my son I wanted to use for Christmas cards, an arsenal of blog pics I took... all gone.  That leads me to this apology... until I can figure out something in the next few weeks, I will have to use photos using my iphone.  I know, I know, I am sorry.  

Wheew!  Ok, now that is out of the way, let's talk about Seventies Flare!  Remember when boot cut jeans were the only thing that was, ok?  Some of you are too young to remember that, but I promise there was a time in the early 2000's that boot cut jeans were everything.  I must admit, when skinnies came into style I was apprehensive.  Boot cut created a longer leaner line, and I was afraid of the stumpy, dwarfed look I felt I would get with a skinny... alas I fought my fear and jumped on to the trend.  To make this long story short (too late), I have been having a hard time again getting readjusted back to the boot cut or 'flare' jeans.  I saw the pair I am wearing on Forage Fashion, and I needed to have them.  Granted, I am not built like a supermodel, so they do look different on me, but I think I achieved the desired look!  Thoughts?

It seems boring to always be talking about season changes and the weather, but they are giant factors when dressing appropriately.  Here in the Northeast not only can it be beach weather one day and the arctic tundra the next, but even in the period of a day the temperature can change drastically.  Around these parts it can feel like Winter in the morning, Summer by noon, and Autumn by evening, so you must layer.   It appears that the blanket scarf is the accessory of the season.  Light weight and versatile, they are perfect addition to any outfit!
