Floral Romper and Karma
Thursday, June 1, 2017 5:30 AM
Good Morning and happy first day of June!!
I hope you are all having a lovely week.
I have been blogging for over three years, and while I occasionally talk about little glimpses of my life, I don't talk about all that much. I am a very private person, and not for reasons you may think. It makes me feel uncomfortable. Too much talk about me and I get weird and fidgety, just ask my friend Lindsay. Let me preface this by saying, I think it is amazing when people can be so open and share all aspects of their lives, it is very brave. When my marriage fell apart (2.5 years in the making), most of the people close to me had no clue until I finally left. I mostly stay away from relationship talk or deep issues myself, family or friends are dealing with. I don't post very many personal things on insta, I have never been 'married' or 'in a relationship' on social media. I am not a millennial, I don't have to post it for the world to see in order for it to exist. Does this make me an introvert? How can this be, I have a blog! While the S&S insta page is public, my personal page is private, as is my FB page. I also find it strange to be like:
'Don't you just love this gingham top, now let's talk about narcissistic personality disorder.'
Well, that was a joke, but seriously! People come here to look at the latest trends, click on some links, shop a look and be on their way.
Although, I am not talking about me personally here, today I will say...
Although, I am not talking about me personally here, today I will say...
'Don't you love this floral romper from Eva Jo? Now let's talk about Karma!'
...but for reals, isn't this romper adorbs? I got it on sale at the end of the Summer last year from
Eva Jo.
Eva Jo.
Karma, do y'all believe in it? Some don't, I do! For no particular reason I have been thinking about it a lot recently.
We have all heard 'what goes around comes around' and my mom's favorite is 'water seeks it's own level'. Often times we wish we could bear witness to other's comeuppance, particularly people who have wronged us. Other times (and I am guilty) just wishing (and praying) for karma to finally catch up with people. I know I have been served a dish of karma in my life, I have recognized and used it as a tool in self reflection.
Often times karma is subtle and good,
for example giving to a charity and then coming home and finding a little extra
cash in a pocket.
...and sometimes
You see, karma is wasted if you don't
learn the lesson behind it. But often times people who exhibit negative
behaviors are not very self aware in the first place. Instead of getting
a severe case of 'poor me', reflect on your behaviors of how careless you
have been with others. As my mom said the other day 'Don't create a storm
and act surprised when it starts to rain.'
Life is all about learning and living
your life to the best of your ability. Being kind to others and not
acting so egocentric, after all some people think the world revolves around
them but in actuality we are all in this together.
Thoughts?
xx, Elise

I am SO with you girl! I don't share anything personal really on the blog or my public Instagram. Not even a pic of my husband. I just don't feel it's necessary when I can do it on my private FB instead :) OK, now lets talk about this look! lol I LOVE it and think its my favorite of yours...ever!!

Being kind to one another is the best thing this world can do. I am no millennial either and a very private person so I totally get it! I never share my families names or anything sad or negative. You are the sweetest and adorable in this fab floral! Karma, heck yeah, nasty people will get what's coming to them!! We need to lift each other up not tear down. Great post pretty lady!
ReplyDeleteIn love with the beautiful romper!

I think blogging can be hard for me at times, because I have no idea WHO is all reading it and there are just some people I don't want to know all about my business. I think being private can be a good thing, you just really don't need to share it all. Plus, it makes you more mysterious and interesting :) I LOVE those shoes and that floral dress looks GORG on you!

I completely understand where you are coming from. My blog originally started with my sister and it was mainly recipes and fashion but then it got too hard to keep up with since we were over an hour away from each other. When I decided to continue blogging I took a different approach and shared a lot more about my life. This might sound weird but sometimes I find it easier to share things with people I haven't actually met than my own friends. Maybe it's because I feel less judged and I know a lot of them don't read my blog, I'm not exactly sure. Anyway, this floral romper is great on you and I love your hair!!
ReplyDeleteBeautifully Candid
No, it makes perfect sense. It is so much easier sharing with people you don't really know. Anonymity almost erases judgement.
DeleteHope you are having an awesome day! <3
Such pretty florals. Love your pink sunnies!
ReplyDeleteThis floral romper is so cute! I love this palette color!

What a beautiful romper, girlie, I love the way you've styled it with the espadrilles, so cute! I feel the same way actually. I don't share much about myself either because I feel that some things need to be kept intimate and for to cherish, learn from, or enjoy. I also feel that if and when I do share certain things, it comes off as though I'm showing off, even though that's not my intention, it's just that I'm so not used to constantly showing everything, lol. I'm glad I have someone to relate to with this! Thanks for sharing and I hope you're having a great week so far!

I don't share a lot of personal stuff on my blog either and it is a little odd that some instagrammers can transition so seamlessly (or not) from something personal to a product placement. I'm with you on keeping some stuff private!

I am a very open person in general because I'm very trusting of people, even if I don't know them all too well. I know it can be bad, but I trust until someone gives me a reason not to. For that reason, I think I can be very open in my blog because I like writing my thoughts and I feel like sometimes sharing can be beneficial for others, but I totally see what you mean by how some things should be kept private. I struggled with that because of how I am and sometimes I have to stop and think if what I'm writing is too much, but I also see my blog as a place to let out what I'm feeling because I blog for me. Sorry, this is all so confusing because it's a lot to think about lol. Thanks for sharing!

You look adorbs!!
ReplyDeleteAs for karma---I try not to wish bad things on other--but it's so hard when they aren't the nicest!! This year I was trying to use Mother Theresa's words in the saying "Do it Anyways"....it's such a great example of how I want to live my life!!

I am totally the same way about usually being more private. I am just not good at sharing. I get it. Loving this floral on you with your cute wedges!

I'm with you but I also think that sometimes by being too private hinders growth....as in the spreading of your blog. I really think if all of you ladies were not embarrassed to tell co workers, other moms or relatives about your blog you might be pleasantly surprised that you were not being judged but helping people that might admire your style but are afraid to ask you for advice on fashion. Then they might tell two people and so on and do on. As for Karma, oh yes!!
ReplyDeleteLoving this cute romper! The dark florals are so pretty and perfect with your wedges!

I feel you - I feel like the more you share, the more you are making yourself vulnerable. I do share some stories here and there but not too many details. I also rarely share photos of my husband and our relationship. I also keep those on my FB where only my friends can see.

this floral romper is so pretty! I'm pretty introverted myself too but am trying to share more of my life as I feel comfortable on social media -- it's a struggle for me too!

How gorgeous is that romper on you?! Spring and summer perfection! And I definitely agree with everything you said about karma. The world needs more kindness, and I try to put as much as I can out there instead of negativity. Happy Friday gurlie <3

I fully believe in karma, whether people call it karma or not. What goes around comes around and I try to remember that when I am making decisions. I love the romper and you are rocking it with those wedges!
ReplyDeleteSuch a chic romper, babe!

Hi Elise,
ReplyDeleteI totally agree, Karma is a bitch. :-)) What goes around comes around. I repeat it to myself when I have to deal with some of my selfish colleagues.
Anyhow, I love your dress and your sandals. You look beautiful, sweetie.

I definitely believe in karma. Mostly I try to remind myself that I alone have to live with who I am and what I do. And I want to have integrity. So that is how I try to act. If someone treats me poorly, if I have to interact with them, I try not to sink down to their level and treat them how I'd like to be treated. It helps me to know that a relationship didn't sour because of what I did or didn't do. And can we talk about that incredible romper?! Seriously I am in love!
ReplyDeleteI totally feel you on getting personal on social media- it's really hard for me to find the balance (i'm super private too!) On another note- I love the adorable romper!
ReplyDeleteI thought this was a dress. I love the romper, super cute floral. I am on the same page as you. I feel awkward talking about a dress and switching gears to a random fact of my life or something. I do think it's a fine line as well out of respect for my family and friends. I want them to not have their whole life plastered out there because of my blog. Anyways love this post!

Also, I totally believe in Karma and I'm guilty of talking about my outfits/serious issues in the same post lol! I am also very private and don't share too much. I'm just coming out of my shell and it's so hard for me since I'm naturally an introvert. Hopefully, it will get better with time lol!
ReplyDeleteI don't like to make personal matters very public either. Whatever it is you are going through right now, I know it'll only make you stronger. Cute outfit too!

I love your post. Sometimes I have to stop and think before posting or writing about something. I have kept my blog to the point, which is fashion mainly. I am not an overshares either and I try to keep my family out of it for the most part =)
ReplyDeleteLydia | chicandmodish.com
I don't feel comfortable with sharing too much personal information either. I was very shy as a child/teenager and old habits die hard. I definitely believe in karma though, it's just that we're often not around to see it in action. I love your floral romper and neutral accessories. Thanks for linking up :-)
