Happy Tuesday!
I feel like lately I have just felt 'meh' about fashion and style. I mean don't get me wrong, I still love to get dressed and look my best, but recently I have found myself uninspired. Often times recently I go into stores and I am completely underwhelmed. I noticed during the Summer that I had fallen into the not so uncommon blogger rut where I was posting trend, upon trend, upon trend and straying from my own personal style. While of course I will still post trendy pieces, I am challenging myself to be more on path and true to my own personal style and hopefully still inspiring others.
If I were to pick a quintessential Elise look, this is it.
I have a million different variations of this look. The jeans are blue, black, or gray, the sweater is almost always black or gray and some sort of leather jacket is a necessity.
This is how I feel most comfortable, this is my uniform, this is me.
These photos were taken last weekend when we ventured out to Roslindale, the part of Boston where my mother grew up. Years ago, this street was filled with family owned fruit, fish and meat stores as well as my grandparents Italian restaurant, The Village Cantine, now the trendy Birch Street Grill. This area has been rejuvenated recently with amazing restaurants, boutiques and yoga studios, such a fun neighborhood to visit!

I think we all fall into that trap at one time or another! Love this quintessentially you look though! It's so chic! Your colored bag is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI love this look on you and it's definitely something I would wear! My leather jacket is my go-to but I need a new one so bad. I feel more inspired in what I wear to work because I can play around with dressing up there, but my everyday I tend to lean on relaxed and comfy. Beautifully Candid
ReplyDeleteThis kind of casually comfy look is my favorite! You looks so effortlessly chic!

Whenever I get this way about my closet (ie, "meh"), I do a cleanout. Purging (even a little bit) seems to clear my fashion-related mind. :) You look super chic here though, lady!

We have all been there, I find myself wearing jeans and my Stan Smith to the office, then some days I really dress up... it depends on the day, mood.. still, a casual but stylish look in your pictures!

You can never go wrong with a good Moto jacket.
ReplyDeleteI know the feeling but not recently. I have seen and gotten so many beautiful items that I feel inspired a lot! I hope you get your inspiration back real soon!
ReplyDeleteI love this...simple and classic. My style is generally fairly simple also!

This is such a great casual outfit - I love your colourful Rebecca Minkoff bag with it, I have the micro Regan in mustard and it's fun to wear with neutrals like you have here with yours.
ReplyDeleteWhen I'm feeling uninspired I'll usually go to instagram and look for a style challenge to play along with, you can get a lot of ideas for how to rewear pieces you love there! :)
Hope you are having a lovely week and your weather is better than ours, haha! Cold and rainy here in Brisbane.

I know EXACTLY how you're feeling--I definitely went through it a few months ago where I realized I was wearing things just because they were trendy and not because it's what I LIKED to wear! It's great once you take a step back and figure out what you TRUE personal style is!!

Sounds like a cute neighborhood and I love all fall outfits with booties and sweaters, you look great!

Whatever you wear Elise you look stunning. I know just what you mean, and i'm sure it has something to do with the seasons. I adore wearing all sorts of styles in the warmer months and come the change of season I always seem to be in jeans and some sort of jumper or warm top! I do need a leather jacket which hopefully will raise my game. Nice to se your blog, have a great week. Jacqui

Just like you, I have ever felt the same thing, feeling uninspired. I think we all ever experienced something like this. Anyway, love the look of yours! Sweater with leather jacket is definitely perfect for fall :)

Yup. Love that look. The jacket, the booties, the JEANS and then there is that purple purse. You look gorgeous and I'm with you on the blogger woes. I'd have to think about what I'm most comfortable in; most me.
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking up to Top of the World Style. Great casual weekend look!
ReplyDeleteElise, you killed it from head to toe! Love the sweater, the leather jacket, and your boots! You look flawless, as always :)

Trends will come and go, our personal styles will remain. I am doing a remix challenge all this month and I am repeating my Fall uniform and there is nothing wrong with that. Great put-together yet edgy look, Elise. =)
ReplyDeleteWelcome by today and then tomorrow babe, for a New Thursday Moda linkup, and link up with me. Thanks, Ada. =)
