Can you believe that Halloween is in two days
and then it will be November!?!?
Where is the time going?
So, every year my friend Jen has a Halloween house party.
Last year she was renovating her house and was unable to host, so this year we were all super excited because we have been waiting two years for one of Jen's epic Halloween bashes!
For months I had been planning costumes and trying out new makeup, etc. Cut to a wedding last month where Jen explained this year the theme was going to be 80's Pop Icons.
I have to confess for about three seconds I was disappointed, as a makeup lover I was racking my brain as to what fun makeup I could possibly pull off. I then remember I have always wanted to dress up like Madonna, specifically mid 80's Madonna in Desperately Seeking Susan, and I NEEDED the jacket!
I searched and I searched. Most jackets I could not get in time for Halloween, and others were astronomically expensive at $900! So I decided I would recreate and DIY it.
Metallic blazer
RedBubble
fabric paint pen
fabric paint metallic gold & glitter gold
pack of fabric brushes
First things first, tune Spotify to a Madonna station, because inspo.
I started of with the metallic blazer. While looking at a photo of the original movie jacket, I drew free hand the design on the lapel and cuffs of the jacket.
I then painted over the design on lapel and cuffs with gold metallic paint.
Paint- Dry - Repeat x3
The illumanati design on the pillow was way too yellow. I cut the pillow along the seem and first painted the yellow bricks metallic gold. After it dried, I painted over with gold glitter paint. Along the bricks, the scroll and three beams of light coming from the all knowing eye.
What do you think?
After all of that, my sister decided she wanted to be the Roberta to my Susan and I made a second jacket. Thankfully, the pillow was printed on both sides!
The rest of costume all available on Amazon
xx, Elise

Effortlessly Sophisticated
You and your sister both looked very pretty as Susan (Madonna) and Roberta (Rosanna Arquette) in "Desperately Seeking Susan". I loved that movie. Your D.I.Y. rendition of Susan's (Madonna's) jacket looks excellent.
