Here in the Northeast the 'season' for beach communities and our islands pretty much ends after Labor Day.  During the Summer months Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket almost triple in population with life long Summer owners, vacationers, and day trippers. While I have always loved the over crowded streets, beaches, restaurants and bars, there is something to be said for enjoying a nice Autumn day on the Vineyard without having to wait for a seat on the ferry, or at a restaurant.  So, I put on very reasonable footwear and decided to take the Island Queen over and back on it's last operating day of 2015.  The weather and company couldn't have been better!

How have you been spending your last days of warmth?

Happy Hump day!  As I try (and I stress try) to stray from my usual black, white and gray to incorporate more color into my wardrobe I find that I tend to go to lighter, softer colors.  I love a nude, blush, buff, peach, coral color. They are so soft and feminine.  I bought this Free People sweater during the summer.  It has been a great early fall transitional piece.  With it's open back  it was perfect in hotter months over a bralette with white jeans or denim cutoffs, but with the cooler weather a tank and booties are in order.  I am also in love with these peep toe booties.  I will be the first to say that when this trend came in a few years back, I was NOT on board.  A peep toe bootie?  Why wear a boot, and have your toes out?  What is the point?  It was a total conundrum for me.  I have since purchased quite a few pair, and they are perfect with dresses and in the Summer, and jeans in the early Autumn before it gets too chilly here in the Northeast.

Are there any trends you did not get or like but have since succumb to?

Good Friday Morning!  So, I have had these boots for six maybe seven years.  I have worn them so many different ways, so many times, I love them!  A few years back they were looking really worn, the soles were getting holes, the leather was wearing off the heels, and basically they had seen their day.  I contemplated breaking up with them all together, but I found I just could not. I started pairing them with longer flared pants so you could not see the wear and tear, and eventually they were spending more time in the back of my closet among the abyss of older and more seasonal shoes.  I purchased other boots in hopes of replacing the love we once had, but nothing compared, nothing even came close.  So at the tail end of the Summer, when I began thinking of fun Fall outfits, I found myself incorporating these boots back into the rotation.  I knew something had to give, they couldn't go on the way they have been, so I decided to bring them to the cobbler (who even knew cobblers were still in business).  For $50 they got new leather wrapped heels and were resoled and thus our love affair has been rekindled!

Good Wednesday Morning Lovelies! I think it was just last week that I stated that I would be try to incorporate more color in my Fall and Winter wardrobes, and here I am in all black and white, nary a color to be seen.  While I LOVE bold patterns and color, I love them most on other people.  How often can you wear a mustard colored floral print without it being noticed that you have it on AGAIN!  While I do own patterns and some color, I personally think I can stretch my wardrobe with more subdued, classic, dare I say plain pieces. Am I right?
